About TexShare 101

TexShare 101 is a pilot Web 2.0 learning environment that addresses the shared interests of NeTLS TexShare public library staff. In the TexShare 101 Web 2.0 Learning Environment everyone has a role to play and everyone's input is important. Each participant has their own online learning space to journal search experiences, share search tips and strategies, discuss training opportunities or resources, rate and enter library related terms in a shared Terms to Know glossary, evaluate database features, give their opinions on database related topics such as library legislation or copyright law, and contribute to other online discussion.

TexShare 101 was initiated as part of the pilot project Initiative by NeTLS to Foster Use of State-funded E-resources (INFUSE). This INFUSE pilot project was established to help achieve the goal of increased use of the wealth of TexShare resources by public library staff and their patrons in four pilot libraries. To help these public libraries realize this goal Project INFUSE investigated feasibility of developing four key components:

  • TexShare 101 Online Learning Environment
  • Access Simplification for Public Libraries
  • Promotion of Texas State Library & Archive Commission TexShare Marketing Plan
  • Statistical Toolkit for TexShare Databases Usage and Evaluation of INFUSE Outcomes

TexShare 101 will be improved based on feedback from pilot library staff during the three month initial roll out. As a Web 2.0 learning enviroment the content is dynamic and a joint development process by the TexShare 101 Learning environment administrator and TexShare101 participants. Initial roll out of TexShare 101 will end December 31, 2009.
